Timer settings
Configure how timers behave and customize your Pomodoro experience.
Pomodoro intervals
- Work interval — Default: 25 minutes. The duration of a focused work session.
- Short break — Default: 5 minutes. The rest period between work sessions.
- Long break — Default: 15 minutes. A longer rest after completing multiple cycles.
- Long break after — Default: 4 cycles. How many work sessions before a long break.
Sound alerts
Toggle sound alerts on or off globally. When enabled, iTimedIT plays a sound at:
- Pomodoro work phase completion
- Break phase start and end
- Timer interruption grace period warnings
Sound selection
Choose from the built-in alert sounds:
- Bell — Clean, professional tone
- Digital — Modern beep pattern
- Gentle — Soft chime for minimal disruption
Test each sound using the preview button next to the dropdown.
Notification settings
Control which push notifications you receive and how they behave.
Enable push notifications
Toggle the master switch to enable or disable all push notifications. When enabled for the first time, your browser will request permission. Click Allow to receive notifications even when iTimedIT is in the background.
Notification types
Enable or disable specific notification categories:
| Notification | Trigger | Use case |
|---|---|---|
| Pomodoro phase transitions | Work → Break, Break → Work | Stay on schedule without watching the timer |
| Budget alerts | 80% threshold reached, 100% exceeded | Avoid overrunning client budgets |
| Timer interruption warnings | 60-second grace period ending | Prevent accidental session loss |
Quiet hours
Optionally set hours during which notifications are suppressed. Useful for maintaining focus during deep work blocks.
Currency and billing
Set your preferred currency for hourly rate calculations and budget display.
- Currency — Select from USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, and others.
- Currency symbol position — Choose whether the symbol appears before or after amounts.
- Decimal places — 2 (default) or 0 for whole currency units.
Changes apply immediately to all projects and time entries across your workspace.
Profile settings
Update your personal information:
- Display name — Shown in team workspaces and activity feeds.
- Email address — Used for login and notifications.
- Timezone — Affects how times are displayed in entries and reports.
Email changes require verification. A confirmation link is sent to the new address before the change takes effect.
Account security
Manage authentication and access:
- Change password — Requires current password for verification.
- Two-factor authentication — Add an extra layer of security with an authenticator app.
- Connected accounts — Link or unlink Google OAuth for one-click sign-in.
- Active sessions — View and revoke access from other devices.
API access
For advanced integrations, generate API keys in the Developer section. Treat API keys like passwords — they provide full access to your account.
Resetting to defaults
To reset all settings to their default values:
- Open Settings → Timer (or any settings page).
- Scroll to the bottom.
- Click Reset to Defaults.
- Confirm the action.
This resets timer intervals, sound settings, and notification preferences. It does not affect your projects, entries, or billing information.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are settings per-workspace or per-user?
A: Timer and notification settings are per-user and apply across all workspaces you belong to. Workspace-specific settings (like default project visibility) are configured separately in the workspace admin panel.
Q: Can I reset settings to defaults?
A: Yes. Each settings category has a Reset to Defaults button at the bottom of the page. This restores factory defaults for that category only.
Q: How do I change my password?
A: Go to Settings → Account Security → Change Password. Enter your current password, then your new password twice to confirm.
Q: Why am I not receiving push notifications?
A: Check three things: (1) Notifications are enabled in Settings → Notifications, (2) Your browser has granted permission (look for the bell icon in the address bar), and (3) Your system is not in Do Not Disturb mode. See Push Notifications for detailed troubleshooting.
Q: Can I export my settings?
A: Not directly. Settings are tied to your account and sync automatically across devices when you sign in.
